Reading Buddies Bookable Volunteer Application

Volunteering Benefits:

Qualifications:

  • Must be over 18 years of age
  • Proficiency in English language
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively
  • Experience working with children (for example: tutoring, teaching, or other educational capacity)
  • Patient, dependable and reliable
  • Volunteers must obtain and submit a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to participating in the program.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide one-on-one reading practice with books, games and activities supplied by the Library.

2. Create an encouraging and positive environment for readers. 

3. Identify a child’s reading interests and help select appropriate reading materials. 

4. Good attendance and punctuality is required. 

5. Support the Mission and Vision of St. Albert Public Library. 

6. Follow the Library Code of Conduct. 

Time Commitment

  • Volunteers must be available Thursday evenings.
  • Volunteers must be available at least two shifts between Mar 7-May 2, 2024
