The Poet Laureate, ‘the people’s poet,’ is an honorary position with a term of two years. During that term, the Laureate will be recognized as a cultural and literary ambassador, act as a champion for poetry, language, and the arts, and represent the City as Laureate during readings at civic functions and public poetry events.

In addition to the distinction of being named St. Albert’s first Poet Laureate, they will also receive an annual honorarium of $1000.

The Poet Laureate committee welcomes nominations of all resident poets of St. Albert who are over the age of 16. Please review the Selection Criteria and general information below.
