Frequently Asked Questions
Q. One of my group members forgot to return their book, who is responsible?
A. The person who borrows the kit is responsible for the return of the kit and all of its contents.
Q. My group meets monthly, can I borrow a kit every month?
A. You can reserve up to 6 kits at a time up to a year in advance. No more than 2 kits can be checked out to your card at one time.
Q. Can my group members return their own books to the library?
A. No, the Book Club Kit must be returned with all copies of the book at the same time.
Q. What if a book is lost or damaged?
A. If your group loses or damages a book, please inform Customer Service staff when you return the kit. You will be charged the replacement cost of the book plus a processing fee. It is up to you to retrieve the cost from the member who lost/damaged the book.
Q. May I place a hold on a Book Club Kit from the online catalog?
A. Not directly, but you can link to Kitkeeper from each kit title in the catalog. You can also access Kitkeeper from our Readers' Corner on our homepage.
Q. My chosen title's calendar only shows blank dates - how can I reserve this title?
A. Scroll down until you find a "Reserve" link option - blank dates are not available (i.e. already booked by another person).
Q. What if my group has more than 8 members?
A. Use the St. Albert Public Library catalog to find more copies of a title as needed.
Q. Someone in my group prefers large print books, how can I help them?
A. Use the St. Albert Public Library catalog to request the title in a different format: large print, book on CD or playaway, downloadable eaudiobooks or ebooks.
